Oblate Bishop is One of Four Remaining Fathers of the Second Vatican Council

In its August 11, 2024 edition, the online publication, Aleteia featured a story titled, “Only 4 fathers of the Second Vatican Council still alive“, written by Hugues Lefèvre.

Written upon the death of Archbishop Emeritus Alphonsus Mathias of Bangalore, India on August 10, the article provides some history of the event along with short biographies of the remaining four, one of whom is Bishop Daniel Alphonse Omer Verstraete, O.M.I., Bishop Emeritus of Klerksdorp, South Africa.
