Hope in a Time of Expectancy

This three-evening Advent Twilight Retreat will provide an opportunity for participants to reflect upon the power of stillness in times of expectancy and uncertainty. Seeing Mary as a model of waiting and pondering, participants will unlock the riches of our loving relationship with God who works great things in us.

We will gather at Oblate Renewal Center on three nights: December 4, 5, and 6, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the San José Room.

Dinner at 6:00 pm; Retreat session at 7:00 pm.

Retreat Presenters

Bonnie LeMelle Abadie, D Min, is a native of San Antonio, Texas. Throughout her life in ministry (40+ years) she has served as a teacher, facilitator, retreat director, catechist, liturgist, youth and young adult minister, campus minister, spiritual director, formator, administrator, conference speaker, singer, musician, poet, and artist. Since 2004 she is serving as a member of the faculty of Oblate School of Theology, currently directing the programs of Theological Field Education and Supervised Ministry. Bonnie is the author of Believing While Grieving: A Journey to Find Blessing in Brokenness.

Theresa Galán-Bruce, D Min, LCSW, holds two Masters degrees, one in social work from the University of Texas at San Antonio and another in theology from Oblate School of Theology. Theresa completed her Doctor of Ministry with a concentration in Spirituality at Oblate School of Theology. As a social worker, she began her career working with the chronically unhoused population and individuals involved in the justice system. In her current role, Theresa serves as clinical director at Transformation House, which is a transition home for women and children who have experienced family violence. Additionally, Theresa was a founding member of the Women of the Well ministry, has served as spiritual director for the Ministry of the Third Cross, and organized retreats for women who were incarcerated. Apart from her academic, professional, and ministerial pursuits, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading good books. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her husband of 31 years, their 3 adult children, their spouses, and their 3 precious grandchildren.

Rose Mary T Lopez has been involved in ministry for most of her life. She holds a MS in Clinical counseling and a Masters in Pastoral Ministry. She is a retreat leader, a music minister and a spiritual director trained at Aquinas Institute. She is the former director of the ACTS Spiritual Companion formation program. She enjoys exploring the many ways we come to know God and as a presenter for this retreat looks forward to joining you in knowing God yet more deeply. She has been married to her husband Larry for 42 years and they have 3 children. She enjoys playing music, gardening and more importantly spending time with her grandchildren.

Registration Fee: $75.00

Fee includes dinners and retreat sessions for all three evenings.
