By Arthur A. Pingolt, Jr., President, Missionary Oblate Partnership

On Tuesday, September 12 the Missionary Oblate Partnership hosted its 7th annual “BBQ & Conversation” at the USP Provincial residence. The event is hosted for Partners, local congregations and members of the USCCB.
This year’s speaker was Fr. Tom Gaunt, SJ, Executive Director of Georgetown University’s Center for the Applied Research in the Apostolate, better known as CARA. Fr. Gaunt reviewed the findings of a survey CARA was commissioned to do by Notre Dame University, to assess US Catholics’ understanding of eucharist. CARA’s finding indicate a much greater belief by Catholics in the “real presence” of the consecrated host that indicated by Pew Research in their study’s findings on the same question. The survey study was shared with attendees in the DC residence chapel, followed by a social and dinner with the Oblate community in DC.
The Missionary Oblate Partnership is a voluntary association of Oblates of Mary Immaculate and men and women working together to support the Oblate charism of serving the world’s poor.
