Florida Oblates Remembered

Oblates Remembered

By Harry Winter, OMI

Thanks to Monsignor John Williams, a priest in the Diocese of Raleigh, NC, we have word about Oblates being especially remembered as one of our former churches in Florida, St. Francis of Assisi, Riviera Beach, FL, celebrated its 75th anniversary on the weekend of March 18-19. Monsignor Williams, who assists at the parish on winter weekends, attended the anniversary and wrote to me about it.

Msgr. Williams included the photo of the four Oblates there from the 2004 pictorial Parish Directory (above), which was widely distributed at the 75th anniversary. He also commented that Pastor Art Obin, O.M.I.’s photo is “ubiquitous” in the office area.

Msgr. Williams credits Tim Mulvey, O.M.I. as the reason for his vocation to the priesthood. He visited Tim’s grave at the IHM Tewksbury Cemetery on Sept. 11, 2017. Click here for his praise of NC Oblates, and his participation at the Aug. 15 Masses, Sweet Springs, WV (Aug. 25, 2021).
