Zambian Oblate Fr. Barnabas Simatende, OMI, also Chairperson for the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia was recently interviewed by Lesotho National Television. Fr. Barnabas and the MISA team were in Lesotho to ensure protection of the media and improved working conditions for journalists during Lesotho’s 2022 national elections held on October 7. Fr. Barnabas is part of the OMI Delegation of Zambia, which is sponsored by the OMI US Province. He currently serves on the Delegation Council and is a priest at a local parish in the Livingstone diocese of Zambia.The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) advocates for media freedom and freedom of expression in southern Africa. MISA programs have grown and now have a global outreach especially through its media violations monitoring program.
