Tempier Community Welcomes Pre-novice in Belleville
Oblate Formation
By Fr. Salvador Gonzalez, OMI
The Henri Tempier, OMI Pre-Novitiate Community in Belleville celebrated Mr. Jesse Lopez’ acceptance into the Pre-Novitiate program. Jesse Lopez grew up in the Oblate Parish of Mary Immaculate in Pacoima, California where he met the Oblates as a child. Jesse has been active in his parish and has frequently visited and ministered at the Oblate Mission in Tijuana, Mexico. Oblate formators, Fr. Juan Gaspar and Fr. Raul Salas welcomed Oblates from St. Henry’s, King’s House, and the Shrine Community to witness the acceptance ceremony, which took place during Evening Prayer of the Queenship of Mary on Monday, August 23, 2022.
Fr. Juan Gaspar reminded Jesse that the community is a place where he is welcomed, where he will be stretched, supported, and encouraged to find strength, and hope during this time of discernment. Fr. Raul Salas, OMI, blessed the cross that Jesse will wear during this period of discernment, as a reminder of the love Jesus has for him and for all people.
Jesse signed his commitment in front of the community and Fr. Juan Gaspar, OMI signed on behalf of the Oblate community. After the signing, Fr. Juan placed the commitment before the image of St. Joseph, Patron of the Congregation.
