August 5th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Snows, one of the oldest devotions to Mary in the Christian Faith.

The original Church in what is now, Santa Maria Maggiori, one of the four Papal Basilicas in Rome, was originally titled, “Santa Maria Ad Nives” – Our Lady of the Snows.

August 5th is the Commemoration of the dedication of Santa Maria Maggiori in Rome, it is also the final day of the 77th Annual Novena at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL. You may watch any (or all) of the nine novena celebrations online by clicking here.
