Oblate Partnership Offering New Online 2020 Covid Speakers Series
Oblate Partnership
Partners 2020 COVID Speaker Series
From Artie Pingolt, president, Missionary Oblate Partnership
As part of its efforts to stay connected and continuing their enrichment despite the physical limitations COVID has imposed, the Partnership has launched a virtual speaker series, addressing a wide variety of topics Partners have identified as interesting. Speakers include Oblates, Partners, and guest speakers, covering topics from religious fundamentalism to liminal space.
“The mission statement of the Partnership states, among other things, that we exist to ‘be a resource for the Missionary Oblates and for the Partners themselves’,” noted Artie Pingolt, Partnership President. “The Partners 2020 COVID Speaker Series is simply a continuation of our strategy to be that resource- connecting Oblates and Partners while increasing our understanding of Church, society and the Oblate charisms. A virtual speaker series is just a necessary adaptation to our present circumstances. And maybe a good nudge to use available technology- for many of us, this is our first Zoom session!”
The Partnership invites any Oblates of the province, and folks they know who might appreciate a given speaker, to join one of the Zoom sessions. “I’ve received emails from Oblates as far away as Australia, who have somehow heard about our Speaker Series. We have plenty of room- that’s what’s great about “virtual” meeting space,” said Pingolt. “Just email me and I will provide the link for the session someone wants to join: apingolt@oblatepartnership.org .”
