Archbishop Garcia-Siller gives a “thumbs up” before his plane takes off

On Monday, May 11, 2020, Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S. boarded an airplane and flew over the city of San Antonio, Texas, blessing the entire city from above.

Fr. Richard Hall, OMI, recorded the Archbishop’s airplane as it passed over the Oblate’s San Juan de los Lagos parish and Shrine. Before the flight, Archbishop Garcia-Siller made an announcement which appears below in text posted on the Facebook page of San Juan de los Lagos.

Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S., decreed today, before blessing the Archdiocese of San Antonio from an airplane, that Ascension Sunday, the weekend of May 23-34, 2020, churches will reopen for the public celebration of Masses. Please stay tuned for further details as we implement his policies on maintaining proper social distancing.
