Fr. Séamus Finn, OMI

Fr. Séamus Finn, OMI, Chairman of the The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), of which OIP is a member, sent the following introduction and article about an important development in the ICCR’s effort to hold the Bangladesh Garmet industry accountable for the safety and well-being of its workers.

“The OIP (Oblate International Pastoral Investment Trust) has been a leader in the effort to address the abuses in the ready-made Garment sector in Bangladesh for a number of years but in particular since the devastating tragedy at the Rana Plaza factory a few years ago that resulted in the loss of over 1,100 lives and multiple serious injuries.

This copyrighted article published today (March 27, 2019)  in the Dhaka Daily Star tells the story of our intervention with other investors to hold the factory owners and the government accountable for ongoing safety improvements throughout the industry sector.”
