La Lomita Chapel

Fr. Roy Snipes, OMI

News about president Trump’s plan to build a wall along the U.S. – Mexico border has dominated the headlines in the past week. One issue that has received a great deal of attention, is the effect such a wall would have on access to the historic La Lomita Chapel built by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate near Mission, Texas for use as a mission church and rest station for itinerant Oblate preachers in the mid-19th century.

Long-time pastor and native Texan, Fr. Roy Snipes, OMI is the local pastor. His perspective on the situation, and understanding of what the chapel means to the area and it’s people has been in demand as the country seeks answers to the crisis on our southern Border.

Below are links to two recent stories featuring Fr. Snipes in coverage from prominent national news organizations.
