On Sunday, August 20th, a very special Mass was celebrated in honor of all the children, youth, professors, and school employees who are getting ready to begin a new school cycle. Despite the fact that many institutions have already begun classes, it’s never to late to receive the blessing of our beloved Father Nino Lajo, OMI!
As it has become a tradition in Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Fr. Lajo blessed all the students and teachers and gave them a few words of encouragement. Regardless of the high temperatures that San Antonio experienced this past weekend, hundreds of local guests turned up, including many that were visiting from out of town.
Inspired by Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller -who offered a Mass in memory of the immigrants that have suffered due to human trafficking- Fr. Lajo took this occasion to share a homily that emphasized the importance of unity, respect, and the love of others, without taking note of skin color, ethnicity, or migratory status. It is crucial for our children and youth to be raised knowing the value of all human life, since we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.
After imparting his blessing, Fr. Lajo invited all guests to freshen up at the Pastoral Center, where snacks, refreshemnts, and coffee were being served. Despues de dar su bendición, el padre invito a todos a refrescarse al Centro Pastoral de Mártires Oblatos, donde les esperaban bocadillos, agua, y café.
We thank everyone who was present at this event, particularly the Grotto Pastoral team, who worked tirelessly to make this Mass possible. Les agradecemos a todos los que estuvieron presentes durante este evento, en especial al Equipo Pastoral de la Gruta, quienes trabajaron arduamente para que la Misa fuera posible. May Jesus and Mary bless you and be with you all throughout this new school cycle!
