The weekend of January 13-15 saw a group of young men from Massachusetts, Michigan, California, Illinois, Texas, and Indiana descend on the Oblate Renewal Center in San Antonio, Texas to visit with Oblates and young men in Oblate formation to learn what life can be as a Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate.

During the weekend the visitors spent time with Fr. Richard Guerra, OMI, pastor of San Juan de los Lagos, who shared the history of the parish and the story of San Juan de los Lagos. They also got together with Oblate scholastics and heard all about life in formation from the pre-novitiate in Buffalo to the scholasticate in San Antonio.

During meals and free time, the guests were free to chat informally with Oblates about their experiences in foreign and domestic missions and to learn more about discerning God’s call to religious life.

A highlight for the young men was a sit-down discussion with U.S. Provincial, Fr. William Antone. It was truly a full, fun and fulfilling weekend giving the visitors much to think and pray about when they return home.
