New Icon of St. Eugene Presented to Oblates in Korea

new edm icon

This beautiful icon of St Eugene was made by Sr. Mary Park a member of the Sisters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in Suwon, Korea. The Oblates in Korea have been saying mass at the sisters’ convent for a long time.

One of the Oblates asked Sr. Mary to create an icon for the Oblate’s 200th anniversary, which she agreed to do, but then she presented it as a gift to the Oblates. Fr Samuel Hong, a member of OMI Lacombe Province and a missionary in Kenya, said that this is the first time Sr Mary has created an icon for outsiders.

This icon is at the Oblate community in Suwon where 3 Oblates live along with vocation candidates.

(Thanks to Fr. William Antone, OMI and Fr. Ken Thorson, OMI for their help with this story)
