The resignation of Pope Benedict and the election of Pope Francis have attracted the attention–even fascination–of many Eastern Orthodox and Protestant Christians. A simplified papacy means that papal leadership is more effective in confronting injustice and promoting the care of the planet. The growing realization that no one Christian Church has all the resources to bring this about, means that Christian Unity is more necessary than ever.  Our Oblate Ecumenism website has been updated, especially on the home page, to reflect this urgency.
